Our Story

Mark is a native of Atlanta and graduate of the University of Georgia, where he graduated cum laude in Business Administration. He worked for a few years in sales and business and thereafter obtained his law degree from the University of California-Davis, an acknowledged top-30 national law school within the renowned UC system. Mark clerked summers for reputable firms and worked concurrently with them throughout his last two years of law school in gaining hands-on experience.
Mark returned to Georgia after law school and started his legal career in Savannah, working for a small civil litigation firm where he obtained instant and considerable experience in medical malpractice, commercial litigation, and general personal injury. Through this initial position, Mark quickly learned the knack of working large files on his own, while showing his ability to interact with clients, file comprehensive pleadings, and get winning results in court.
During this period, Mark prepared and filed the Appellant’s brief on the cutting-edge case of Russaw v. Martin, 221 Ga. App. 683 (1996) asking the Georgia Court of Appeals to recognize whether his client, who had negligently been stuck by a needle by a medical attendant during the height of the AIDS scare, had a cause of action in Georgia. While the Georgia Court declined to recognize this cause of action, Mark created a dialogue on this issue, leading to safer medical practices within Georgia. From there, Mark obtained bankruptcy and commercial litigation experience with distinguished Savannah lawyer Sherwin P. Robin, where Mark likewise first obtained criminal defense and federal appellate practice experience.
Following his three year stint in Savannah, Mark moved back to Atlanta where he served three years as an in-house corporate lawyer for Law Engineering and Environmental Services, where Mark expanded on his file management and writing skills while being entrusted to draft and negotiate contracts for major environmental and construction projects. Mark was ultimately made a corporate officer and promoted to assistant secretary of the multi-national corporation with offices through the United States and United Kingdom.
Mark has effectively utilized the writing skills he developed at Law Engineering in preparing motions, appeals, and custody agreements. Mark opened his own practice in late 2002 and has since focused heavily on criminal defense, juvenile law (delinquency, dependency and CHINS actions), family law, and appeals. Mark now focuses primarily on appeals and defending clients facing complex criminal matters in Federal Court, while maintaining an active juvenile and general criminal and family law practice.
